This week is all about teachers. I think we can all look back and remember some of our most favorite teachers over the years. And chances are, what made them so memorable to us is not the subjects that they taught, as much as the way they taught. I still remember Dr. Herriot in 10th grade math. She knew I was slacking off and she challenged me to do better. I was so surprised that someone actually called me on it, and decided to give it a shot. Dr. Herriot handed the next test back to me with a big smile on her face – I got an A. It felt great for me to see that grade, and that smile! She helped me to understand that when I put my mind and my efforts into something, I can achieve. That’s a good teacher.
